A whistleblower who claims to work inside the Los Angeles Department of Health Services has told Infowars that L.A. officials are planning to forcibly remove homeless people from the streets later this summer and house them in facilities which they will not be permitted to leave.The source, an office clerk within the LADHS, said that during a policy meeting on the morning of June 18th last month, his supervisor announced that the Los Angeles County Dept. of Health Services had struck a deal with the government to open up “low cost housing” facilities for homeless people, otherwise known as “FEMA camps.” The source said that his supervisor ordered staff not to use the term “FEMA camps.”The program is focused around removing or relocating homeless people from the streets of downtown L.A., starting with Skid Row.“We will approach them on the street asking if they need or want help usually offering food to get their direct attention, if they come into the office it makes our jobs twice as efficient,” said the supervisor. “In most cases the decision is already made for them unless they become combative or belligerent in which case we send them in for a 72 hour psych evaluation and then transfer them while under sedation or heavy medication to the “facility.”The supervisor stressed that the program would be “humane,” that it would help clean up the streets, and that the citizens being processed into the housing units would receive medical treatment, an RFID chip, room and board, but that “they cannot leave.” The supervisor elaborated that the facility was not a prison, but that its population would be kept there “for their own health and safety.”The whistleblower points to a page on the Department of Health Services official website which details how “roving teams” will help “provide short-term housing with health oversight to homeless DHS patients who are recovering from an acute illness or injury or have conditions that would be exacerbated by living on the street or in shelters.”The post also mentions “a 38 bed recuperative care site in South LA” which will be opened “this summer” to cater for the homeless.The notion of forcing homeless people off the streets into detention facilities is not a conspiracy theory and has already been taking place across the United States. OTTAWA - High-risk offenders in Ontario and Quebec are among the inmates slated to take part in a federal prison service pilot project to test the effectiveness of electronic monitoring devices.Research data will be collected for at least two years before a decision is taken on further use of the devices, to be worn by offenders completing sentences in the community.The Canadian Press obtained internal memos about the planned pilot project — which is months behind schedule — under the Access to Information Act.The government announced plans for the pilot early last year despite opposition from the NDP, which questioned the cost.In a September 2012 report, a majority of the Commons public safety committee recommended that the Correctional Service look into broader use of monitoring, which usually involves an ankle bracelet that can be electronically tracked from a central facility.However, the NDP disagreed, saying the government's own witnesses made it clear that the devices are not effective for low-risk offenders.Only medium- or high-risk male offenders out on statutory release — the final one-third of their sentence — or subject to a long-term supervision order will be eligible to take part in the pilot, says a September 2013 Correctional Service memo to regional deputy commissioners.The Ontario and Quebec regions were selected because they have the largest number of high-risk offenders with special conditions imposed on their release, adds the memo.Offenders who agree to participate in the research will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: those fitted with a device, or those without one.The prison service tested monitoring devices from 2008-11, but did not gauge their "effectiveness and efficiency," the memo says.Legislation passed by the Conservatives gives the prison service authority to demand that an offender who leaves prison on temporary absence, work release, parole, statutory release or long-term supervision wear a monitoring device.The bracelets can be programmed to send an alert if the offender violates a release condition prohibiting them from being in certain places. BEIJING, China - Hundreds of police took down a church's cross Monday in a city known as "China's Jerusalem" for its many houses of worship amid a crackdown on church buildings in a coastal region where thousands of people are embracing Christianity.Evangelist Qu Linuo said he and about 200 others had rushed to the Longgang Huai En Church in the eastern city of Wenzhou to protect the building but peacefully made way for the police, who used a crane to remove the 3-meter-tall (10-foot-tall) red cross from its steeple.Authorities told the church the cross violated building height limits, and returned it to the parishioners, who wept and prayed around it, said Qu, who is a member of another church. A man at the county's public security office said he didn't know anything about the incident, and the Longgang township police didn't answer phone calls.Across Zhejiang province, where Wenzhou is located, authorities have toppled or threatened to topple crosses at more than 130 Protestant churches. In a few cases, the government has even razed sanctuaries.Officials say they're enforcing building codes, although often they won't specify which ones. David Ouellette, an associate director at Montreal's Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said for the first time in years, the armed conflict in the Middle East has led to an increase in anti-Jewish sentiment in Montreal, to the point that Jews are being harassed, threatened or assaulted while going about their daily lives.He said several of the incidents have been reported to Montreal police, and are being investigated.“I would expect that JDL is making this calculation, knowing this is a time when many in the Jewish community are concerned with their safety, that the time is right to try and make inroads,” he said.Ouellette said the JDL hasn’t had a presence in Quebec in years and has had a difficult time establishing itself in any significant way.“They really stand on the fringes of our community,” he said.“As an organization, they’re a very, very small, marginal group based in Toronto which makes little inroads in the mainstream Jewish community.”One Israeli diplomat said a controversial Jewish group has no place handling anti-Semitic hate crimes in Montreal."We're hoping that the police will do everything in their capacity to assure the safety and the defence of the Jewish members of the community here. Montreal police Cmdr. A whistleblower who claims to work inside the Los Angeles Department of Health Services has told Infowars that L.A. officials are planning to forcibly remove homeless people from the streets later this summer and house them in facilities which they will not be permitted to leave.The source, an office clerk within the LADHS, said that during a policy meeting on the morning of June 18th last month, his supervisor announced that the Los Angeles County Dept. of Health Services had struck a deal with the government to open up “low cost housing” facilities for homeless people, otherwise known as “FEMA camps.” The source said that his supervisor ordered staff not to use the term “FEMA camps.”The program is focused around removing or relocating homeless people from the streets of downtown L.A., starting with Skid Row.“We will approach them on the street asking if they need or want help usually offering food to get their direct attention, if they come into the office it makes our jobs twice as efficient,” said the supervisor. “In most cases the decision is already made for them unless they become combative or belligerent in which case we send them in for a 72 hour psych evaluation and then transfer them while under sedation or heavy medication to the “facility.”The supervisor stressed that the program would be “humane,” that it would help clean up the streets, and that the citizens being processed into the housing units would receive medical treatment, an RFID chip, room and board, but that “they cannot leave.” The supervisor elaborated that the facility was not a prison, but that its population would be kept there “for their own health and safety.”The whistleblower points to a page on the Department of Health Services official website which details how “roving teams” will help “provide short-term housing with health oversight to homeless DHS patients who are recovering from an acute illness or injury or have conditions that would be exacerbated by living on the street or in shelters.”The post also mentions “a 38 bed recuperative care site in South LA” which will be opened “this summer” to cater for the homeless.The notion of forcing homeless people off the streets into detention facilities is not a conspiracy theory and has already been taking place across the United States. OTTAWA - High-risk offenders in Ontario and Quebec are among the inmates slated to take part in a federal prison service pilot project to test the effectiveness of electronic monitoring devices.Research data will be collected for at least two years before a decision is taken on further use of the devices, to be worn by offenders completing sentences in the community.The Canadian Press obtained internal memos about the planned pilot project — which is months behind schedule — under the Access to Information Act.The government announced plans for the pilot early last year despite opposition from the NDP, which questioned the cost.In a September 2012 report, a majority of the Commons public safety committee recommended that the Correctional Service look into broader use of monitoring, which usually involves an ankle bracelet that can be electronically tracked from a central facility.However, the NDP disagreed, saying the government's own witnesses made it clear that the devices are not effective for low-risk offenders.Only medium- or high-risk male offenders out on statutory release — the final one-third of their sentence — or subject to a long-term supervision order will be eligible to take part in the pilot, says a September 2013 Correctional Service memo to regional deputy commissioners.The Ontario and Quebec regions were selected because they have the largest number of high-risk offenders with special conditions imposed on their release, adds the memo.Offenders who agree to participate in the research will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: those fitted with a device, or those without one.The prison service tested monitoring devices from 2008-11, but did not gauge their "effectiveness and efficiency," the memo says.Legislation passed by the Conservatives gives the prison service authority to demand that an offender who leaves prison on temporary absence, work release, parole, statutory release or long-term supervision wear a monitoring device.The bracelets can be programmed to send an alert if the offender violates a release condition prohibiting them from being in certain places. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More members of religious communities around the world were forced to flee their homes last year than at any time in recent memory, the United States said on Monday, in its annual report on religious freedom."In almost every corner of the globe, millions of Christians, Muslims, Hindus and others representing a range of faiths were forced from their homes on account of their religious beliefs," the report said.It said hundreds of thousands of Christians had fled three years of civil war in Syria and in the Central African Republic, lawlessness and sectarian violence between Christians and Muslims had reportedly resulted in 700 deaths in December alone and the displacement of more than a million people in 2013.The report also highlighted anti-Muslim violence in Myanmar that led to up to 100 deaths and 12,000 being forced from their homes in the area of the town of Meiktila in early 2013.It said organized hate-speech and harassment of Muslims continued and Buddhist-Muslim rivalry was often exploited for political gain.The report also pointed to sectarian violence in Pakistan, which had killed more than 400 Shi'ite Muslims and 80 Christians and China's prosecution of relatives of people who had set themselves on fire in religious protests.Attacks on religion were not confined to the developing world, the report said, with anti-Semitism throughout Europe evidenced in Internet fora and in soccer stadiums "leading many individuals who are Jewish to conceal their religious identity."The report also said that there were instances in which people of different faiths had worked together to protect each other.An increase in mosque attacks in Britain had led an orthodox Jewish neighborhood watch team to help Muslim leaders protect mosques, the report said.Other such interfaith solidarity included Muslims helping to protect Christians by forming human chains around churches in Pakistan and similar actions by Muslims in Egypt.The following is a link to the full report:http://paei.state.gov/j/drl/rls/irf/2013religiousfreedom/index.htm

BEIJING, China - Hundreds of police took down a church's cross Monday in a city known as "China's Jerusalem" for its many houses of worship amid a crackdown on church buildings in a coastal region where thousands of people are embracing Christianity.Evangelist Qu Linuo said he and about 200 others had rushed to the Longgang Huai En Church in the eastern city of Wenzhou to protect the building but peacefully made way for the police, who used a crane to remove the 3-meter-tall (10-foot-tall) red cross from its steeple.Authorities told the church the cross violated building height limits, and returned it to the parishioners, who wept and prayed around it, said Qu, who is a member of another church. A man at the county's public security office said he didn't know anything about the incident, and the Longgang township police didn't answer phone calls.Across Zhejiang province, where Wenzhou is located, authorities have toppled or threatened to topple crosses at more than 130 Protestant churches. In a few cases, the government has even razed sanctuaries.Officials say they're enforcing building codes, although often they won't specify which ones. They also deny they are specifically targeting churches, and point to the demolition of tens of thousands of other buildings, religious and non-religious, that have apparently broken regulations.But experts and church leaders in this province south of Shanghai — the only one where the incidents are happening — say the government appears to be trying to suppress the fast-growing religion.Official 2010 figures put the number of Christians in state-sanctioned churches at 23 million believers, but the country also has vast numbers of believers who meet in secret. The Pew Research Center estimated 58 million Protestants in the country practiced the religion in 2011, along with 9 million Catholics the year before. Some experts say the total could be more than 100 million.The church's dramatic growth — and Christians' allegiance to God above all else — has alarmed authorities, said Yang Fenggang, a Purdue University sociologist and leading expert on religious matters in China. It was difficult to imagine what sort of building codes the crosses would violate."The only reason I can think of is that the Zhejiang authorities intend to humiliate Christians by taking down the symbol sacred to them," he said.The province may have come under scrutiny because it is home to Wenzhou, where more than a tenth of residents are Protestant Christians, the highest proportion of any major Chinese city, according to Cao Nanlai, an anthropologist who has studied and written a book about Christianity in Wenzhou.Half the province's 4,000 churches are located here, he said, partly a legacy of early missionary efforts here.Known for its entrepreneurial vigour, Wenzhou has tens of thousands of small family-run workshops making shoes, toys and other products. Believers here appear to have applied that same eagerness to starting new churches, Cao said.The cross removals and demolitions reflect the occasional flexing of political muscle by authorities to show who's in control, he said.Last week, parishioners at another church in the city successfully protected their cross from hundreds of police, said Zheng Changye, a 36-year-old member of another church. Hundreds of people, including families and children, gathered at the Manitoba legislative building on Monday for a pro-Palestinian rally.Many at the rally held signs calling for an end to violence in Gaza, where more than 1,000 Palestinians and nearly 50 Israelis have been killed in clashes this month.
Many of those gathered in Winnipeg expressed anger at the federal Conservative government, which has come out in definitive support of Israel.This is the third pro-Palestinian rally in the past three weeks in Winnipeg.

An ultra-nationalist and controversial Jewish-rights organization wants to establish a new chapter in Montreal, citing an increase in physical attacks against Jews.The national director of the Jewish Defence League (JDL), an international organization “committed to the restoration of pride and integrity to the Jewish People," says he has been contacted by Montrealers who would like to see a chapter set up in the city.Meir Weinstein told CBC News he’ll be in town next week to meet Montrealers interested in establishing a new chapter of the organization, which already has a Canadian presence in Toronto.The JDL’s tactics, including militant counter-protests and confrontations at anti-Israel demonstrations, have earned the league both attention and strong criticism.The FBI identified the organization as a “right-wing terrorist group,” in a report on terrorism in 2000 and 2001, citing a thwarted bomb plot in 2001 against a California mosque that involved members of the JDL.Members of the group have also been linked to incidents spanning several decades involving vandalism, assault, explosive devices and firebombs. The group has claimed that all of its activities are acts of self-defence or retaliation for anti-Semitic incidents.In Canada, the group has not been classified as a terrorist organization.“We’re not on any list,” Weinstein said.“We have a very serious history in Canada – fighting anti-Semitism, exposing Nazi war criminals and a variety of neo-Nazi groups in the city… We’ve worked very hard in this country against physical threats to the community, and I’m very proud of my history with the organization.”
Increase in anti-Jewish sentiment
David Ouellette, an associate director at Montreal's Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said for the first time in years, the armed conflict in the Middle East has led to an increase in anti-Jewish sentiment in Montreal, to the point that Jews are being harassed, threatened or assaulted while going about their daily lives.He said several of the incidents have been reported to Montreal police, and are being investigated.“I would expect that JDL is making this calculation, knowing this is a time when many in the Jewish community are concerned with their safety, that the time is right to try and make inroads,” he said.Ouellette said the JDL hasn’t had a presence in Quebec in years and has had a difficult time establishing itself in any significant way.“They really stand on the fringes of our community,” he said.“As an organization, they’re a very, very small, marginal group based in Toronto which makes little inroads in the mainstream Jewish community.”One Israeli diplomat said a controversial Jewish group has no place handling anti-Semitic hate crimes in Montreal."We're hoping that the police will do everything in their capacity to assure the safety and the defence of the Jewish members of the community here. That's the role of the police, not the role of a vigilante group," said Joel Lion, consul general to Israel in Montreal.
Anti-Semitic acts rare, police say
Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafrenière told Radio-Canada that authorities are always on the alert for hate- related crime in times of international conflict, but he said it can be challenging to differentiate hate- motivated crime from a simple theft or assault.He said police have received fewer than half a dozen complaints related to anti-Semitism in the recent past.Weinstein said it is still to be determined if there will be an official presence of the JDL in Montreal.“We have to see what kind of people come out and what kind of people we’ll be meeting,” he said.“The second thing is, after establishing a chapter, we have to have serious lines of communication with the police to see to it that any information we give to the police regarding threats will be respected," Weinstein said. "That is a very important platform we have in the organization.”
