UPDATE-AUGUST 06,2015-12:00AM

Alex Davies-08.05.15-Time of Publication: 2:25 pm.Here’s the Full Statement on MH370 From the Malaysian Prime Minister

Authorities have confirmed the airplane part that washed up on the shores of the island of Réunion last week came from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared on March 8, 2014.Here’s the full statement from Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Rizak, posted to his Facebook page:On 8 March 2014, flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared. The days, weeks and months that followed have been a period of torment for the families of those on board. The plane’s disappearance was without precedent. At every stage, we followed the tiny amount of evidence that existed. But, despite the efforts of 26 nations and the largest search in aviation history, from the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean, the plane could not be located. Neither could investigations by the world’s leading aviation experts answer why MH370 veered off course and went dark. While the plane’s disappearance remained a mystery, we have shared the anguish of those who could find no comfort.Last week, on 29th July, we were informed by the French authorities that part of an aircraft wing had been found on Reunion, the French island in the Indian Ocean.Today, 515 days since the plane disappeared, it is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts have conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370.We now have physical evidence that, as I announced on 24th March last year, flight MH370 tragically ended in the southern Indian Ocean. This is a remote, inhospitable and dangerous area, and on behalf of Malaysia I would like to thank the many nations, organisations and individuals who have participated in the search. The burden and uncertainty faced by the families during this time has been unspeakable. It is my hope that this confirmation, however tragic and painful, will at least bring certainty to the families and loved ones of the 239 people onboard MH370. They have our deepest sympathy and prayers. I would like to assure all those affected by this tragedy that the government of Malaysia is committed to do everything within our means to find out the truth of what happened. MH370’s disappearance marked us as a nation. We mourn with you, as a nation. And I promise you this: Malaysia will always remember and honour those who were lost onboard MH370.

Authorities have confirmed the piece of a plane wing that washed up on the shores of Réunion, a small island off the coast of Madagascar, came from the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 jet that disappeared in March 2014.It’s the first confirmed piece of evidence from the plane, which had 239 people on board. The debris was examined in a lab in Toulouse, France.Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak confirmed the flaperon, identified last week as part of a Boeing 777, came from the jet that vanished while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. “It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts have conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370,” he said in a statement.Réunion is roughly 4,000 miles from the jet’s last confirmed location, but after nearly 17 months in the Indian Ocean, it’s not surprising the wreckage had traveled so far. No other Boeing 777 has gone missing or crashed in that part of the world.

MH370: RECAP as investigators reveal wing part DOES belong to missing Malaysia Airlines plane-20:29, 5 August 2015-By Steve Robson-The Malaysian Prime Minister said experts had "conclusively confirmed" the debris came from the plane after it crashed in the Indian Ocean

6:30 pm-Could the mystery of MH370 have been solved? International experts are due to hold a press conference live in Paris at 7pm UK time to announce if they have solved the mystery of missing flight MH370.Investigators have been examining a part believed to be the flaperon of a Boeing 777 which washed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion last week. The hope is that the wing part belonged to the Malaysia Airlines jetliner which disappeared last year with 239 people on board. No trace has been found of it since. The examination is being carried out under the direction of a judge at an aeronautical test facility run by the French military at Balma, a suburb of the southwestern city of Toulouse.

6:37 pm-World on standby for results of investigation-Reuters MH370-French gendarmes and police carry a large piece of plane debris which was found on the beach in La Reunion-Malaysian officials who are leading an international air crash investigation were due to witness the inspection of the part, which was flown to the French mainland at the weekend.Officials from the United States and manufacturer Boeing were also on hand to advise whether the piece can be tied to Flight MH370, which went missing on March 8 last year while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.Aside from the Paris new conference, Malaysian officials were also on stand-by in Kuala Lumpur in case any results could be announced as early as Wednesday.Malaysia has said the piece of debris, a wing surface known as a flaperon, had been identified as being from the type of plane that disappeared.

6:40 pm-Wing part may not have final answer to MH360 mystery-ATSB MH370 Search-The search for MH370 has been ongoing for almost 18 months-The airliner is believed to have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, about 3,700 km from Reunion.Investigators will try to confirm that the part comes from the missing Boeing 777 and glean whatever clues they can about the cause of the crash, experts said. But the question of why the aircraft vanished may be clearer only when the main debris field is found, and its flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have been recovered.A former investigator said: "A wing's moving surfaces give you far fewer clues than bigger structures like the rudder, for example."As a single piece of evidence, it is likely to reveal quite little other than it comes from MH370."

MH370 Search-atsb-The search for MH370 has been ongoing for almost 18 monthsThe airliner is believed to have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, about 3,700 km from Reunion.

6:43 pm-French experts previously examined Air France crash wreckage-Missing: Flight MH370 pilots Zaharie Ahmad Shah (left) and Fariq Abdul Hamid-The Balma test centre specialises in metal analysis and is equipped with a scanning electron microscope capable of 100,000 times magnification. It was used to store and analyse debris from an Air France jet which crashed in the Atlantic in 2009.Investigators will examine the barnacled part for numbers that could tie it too the missing jet or other forensic clues. The Boeing 777 was minutes into its scheduled flight when it disappeared from civil radars.Investigators believe that someone deliberately switched off the aircraft's transponder, diverted it thousands of miles off course, and deliberately crashed into the ocean off Australia.
