Thousands to Descend on Jerusalem Over Sukkot Holiday to Perform Rare Biblical Commandment of Hakhel-By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz September 29, 2015 , 10:30 am-bin

“ And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 31:10-12) Thousands of Jewish people gather for a mass prayer for forgiveness (slichot) at Western Wall in Jerusalem's old city, at night before Yom Kippur on September 21, 2015.This upcoming Wednesday, September 30, thousands of people will descend on the Western Wall Plaza to take part in a rare Biblical commandment that occurs once every seven years. The commandment of Hakhel involves assembling all Jewish men, women, children and non-Jewish residents of Israel to hear the reading of the Torah by the king of Israel after each Shmittah year. The Hakhel gathering took place at the Temple in Jerusalem on the second day of the holiday of Sukkot (Tabernacles), when all of Israel was gathered together in the capital. The Biblical requirement for perform this commandment is not incumbent upon the Jewish nation today since it is only when all the Jewish people reside in Israel.Nonetheless, there was a move to revive this unique commandment, at least in a symbolic manner, beginning in the early 1900s with Rabbi Elijah David Rabinowitz-Teomim (the father-in-law of Rabbi Kook), and then Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Shmuel Salant. In 1945, the year after the shmittah, an official Hakhel ceremony was held for the first time in thousands of year. Since then, similar ceremonies have occurred every seven years since. The ceremony will be held this year at the Western Wall, with the chief rabbis of Israel, ministers and politicians in attendance. This Sukkot, Get Your Own Personal 4 SpeciesAaron Domba, an organizer behind the last three Hakhel events, spoke with Breaking Israel News about his experiences with what he described as an awe-inspiring endeavor spanning over 20 years. “We all come together as one, equal, like we did at the base of Mount Sinai,” he told Breaking Israel News.Stressing a unique aspect of Hakhel, Domba points out that women and children, who are usually exempt from positive time-bound commandments, are specifically included, as are Gerim, non-Jewish residents of Israel, to uphold this Biblical commandment.“The special thing about this mitzvah is that everyone is equal, just like we were together and equal at Mount Sinai,” he explained Breaking Israel News. “The Torah explicitly includes everyone: men, women, children, and gerim. 14 years ago, we held a separate ceremony beforehand in which 6,000 non-Jews gathered at the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount to bless Israel and pray for world peace.”If you are in Jerusalem on September 30, make sure not to miss the Hakhel ceremony, which is expected to begin at 5 pm local time.

German Journalist Back from Frontlines: ISIS Seeks Nuclear Holocaust-By JNI Media September 29, 2015 , 1:00 pm-bin-Be strong and courageous! Neither fear, nor be dismayed of them, for the Lord, your God He is the One Who goes with you. He will neither fail you, nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

German author and politician Jürgen Todenhöfer, 75, who in 2014 visited Syria and Iraq as the first Western journalist to be allowed extensive access to ISIS-controlled territories and to return safely, has now published a book titled “Inside IS – Ten Days in the Islamic State,” in which he suggests that “the west is drastically underestimating the power of ISIS,” and declares in no uncertain terms that “the terrorists plan on killing several hundred million people,” the Express reported.Todenhöfer writes that ISIS’ ambition is to secure atomic weapons, comparing the Islamic army to a “nuclear tsunami preparing the largest religious cleansing in history.”Back in 2014, in a TV interview with RTL TV two days after his return to Germany, Todenhöfer said ISIS has “social welfare,” a “school system,” and even plans to provide education to girls. On the other hand, he was most concerned by ISIS fighters’ belief that “all religions who agree with democracy have to die.” He kept hearing that ISIS wants to “conquer the world” and anyone not following their interpretation of the Koran must be killed, with the exception of the “people of the book” – Jews and Christians.“This is the largest religious cleansing strategy that has ever been planned in human history,” Todenhöfer told RTL.It is presumed that Todenhöfer was allowed to get into the ISIS territory because of his vociferous criticism of GW Bush’s policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nevertheless, Todenhöfer said that “this project was opposed by my family for seven months. My son ultimately accompanied me – against my will. He meant to protect me. And he filmed there.”Todenhöfer says ISIS “are much stronger than we here believe. They now control land greater in size than the United Kingdom and are supported by an almost ecstatic enthusiasm the like of which I’ve never encountered before in a war zone. Every day hundreds of willing fighters from all over the world come.”He thinks the beheadings “have been established as a strategy … to spread fear and terror among their enemies. This worked well — look at the capture of Mosul [which was] taken with fewer than 400 fighters! They are the most brutal and most dangerous enemy I have ever seen in my life.”As to the rest of the world, Todenhöfer says, “I don’t see anyone who has a real chance to stop them. Only Arabs can stop IS. I came back very pessimistic.http://www.breakingisraelnews.com/

Report: Israeli Airstrikes in Syria Worrying Putin-By Lea Speyer September 29, 2015 , 11:30 a-“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:7)-bin

Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly worried over possible Israeli airstrikes in Syria, Israel’s Channel 2 reported.According to the report, the Russian leader acknowledged Monday in remarks made on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that Israel’s security concerns must be taken into account in Syria. However, he expressed concern over the lasting effects on intermittent IDF strikes on the area.Putin’s comments come after the IDF struck two Syrian military targets Sunday evening following stray rocket fire that spilled over from the fighting in Syria.Last week, the Russian leader met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow over Israel’s concerns surrounding the instability in Syria. The prime minister stated that Israel will do everything in its power to “to prevent…weapons transfers, and to prevent the creation of a terrorist front and attacks on us from the Golan Heights.”Over the last several months, Russia has been bolstering the Syrian army, loyal to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, with troops, weapons, fighter jets and tanks. Netanyahu told Putin, “Under these circumstances, I thought it was very important that I come here, also to clarify our policies, and to make sure that there is no misunderstanding between our forces.”Putin assured Netanyahu that “all of Russia’s actions in the region will always be very responsible.”

Grad-type rocket was first rocket to be fired from the Strip at Ashdod since 2014 conflict.-Amos Harel Sep 29, 2015 11:02 PM-haaretz

A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip at the southern Israel city of Ashdod on Tuesday night was intercepted by the Iron Defense air defense system. No damage or casualties were caused. The grad-type rocket was the first rocket to be fired from the Strip at Ashdod since the summer conflict between Gaza and Israel ended in August 2014. The incident comes a little over a week after a rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open area in Hof Ashkelon Regional Council in southern Israel. The explosion did not cause any injuries or damages, and alarm sirens did not sound since the rocket was fired at an unpopulated area. A radical Salafist group took responsibility for the rocket fire. Monday's incident involved a long-range rocket, meaning it was most likely fired by Islamic Jihad, which has grad rockets in its arsenal. In previous incidents, Israel responded with limited air strikes, mostly targeting Hamas sites, since the IDF considers Hamas responsible due to its control of the Strip. Rocket fire by Salafist groups has occurred once every few weeks since the 2014 conflict, and is usually perpetrated as a defiant act against Hamas as part of the internal struggle between the group and the smaller Palestinian factions.Such an attack by the Islamic Jihad could also be linked to others factors, like increasing pressure on Gaza by Egypt – which has in recent weeks continued its crackdown on smuggling tunnels running from Sinai's Rafah into Gaza by intentionally flooding them. Tensions in Gaza have also been spurred by a string of power outages that have left the majority of Gazans without electricity for almost 15 hours a day.Though most of the blame is being aimed at Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (as much as at ongoing dispute between them), such tensions have a history of boiling over into violence against Israel, especially in regards to the recent escalation in Jerusalem over the Temple Mount. Tuesday was also the 15th anniversary of Second Intifada.Israeli military intelligence believe that Hamas' Gaza leadership is still interested in maintaining the calm and is working to reign in smaller terrorists organization, fearing an additional conflict with Israel.

Israeli Strikes on Syria Continue Into Second Day, Targeting Army Posts-Cites Single Mortar Shell Hitting Empty Field-by Jason Ditz, September 28, 2015-antiwar.com

Israeli forces continued their attacks on the Syrian military for a second day, confirming attacks on two more army posts and claiming a single mortar shell fired by an unknown faction, which strayed into the Israeli-occupied Golan, as the pretext for the continued strikes. This follows attacks Sunday on several more military posts around Quneitra, which similarly the Israeli military justified on claims of a rocket that strayed across the border and did no damage. In that case too, officials conceded they didn’t know who fired the rocket, which likely was fired during fighting in southern Syria and just happened across the border.Israeli military spokesmen claim that they consider the Syrian government responsible for everything that goes on in their war-torn country, and that attacking them is legitimate even if it’s for something they had no part in doing. This is largely the way Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have worked the last few years as well, attacking Hamas for rocket fire they concede Hamas is trying to prevent.Syria is estimated to control only about 10% of the border with Israel at this point, with a coalition of Islamists dominated by al-Qaeda holding most of it. The al-Qaeda takeover put pressure on UN observers in the area, with al-Qaeda repeatedly targeting them. Israel has confirmed admitting al-Qaeda fighters into northern Israel for medical treatment and sending them back to Syria to continue fighting.
